Strengthening Relationships with Japan through Science and Innovation

Strengthening Relationships with Japan through Science and Innovation

Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre announced on 30 April in Canberra, that they will take their popular Science Circus outreach program to Japan in October as part of Australia now.

The five-week tour will take place in Osaka, Nagoya, Nara and Kochi in Western Japan after an official launch in Osaka on 12 October.

Questacon was established thirty years ago, in large part, due to the generosity of the Government of Japan and the Japanese Business Federation – a Bicentennial gift to the people and Government of Australia.  Since then, it has been a symbol Australia and Japan’s strong relationship.

Presenters from Questacon, the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science of the Australian National University will partner with Japanese science museums and schools to deliver engaging science shows at local schools and run free public exhibitions for families at places such as  Osaka Science Museum, Nara City Hall, Nagoya City Science Museum and Kochi Mirai Science Center.

The Science Circus first came to Japan in 2014, launching at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), and touring four tsunami-recovering communities in the Tohoku region, with aims to re-establish the capacity of local science museums and contribute to their rebuilding efforts.
